FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Dare City?

To start, Dare City is a mobile adventure game that offers real life experiences and rewards. At Dare City, we believe our truest selves are discovered when we push the boundaries of fear. We have gamified this self-discovery experience through something all people have encountered at least once in their life. Dares. These dares challenge players to undertake adventures, build community, and explore their world like never before.

How to play?

First, download the Dare City app. Once downloaded, build your profile by telling us your age, where you spend most of your time, and creating your username. This information allows us to tailor the Dare City experience to you and ensures the safety of all players. Once your profile is built all that’s left is to collect points, achievements, and real-life experiences by completing dares, participating in events, and sharing dares with your friends.

Why does Dare City need to know my age?

Dare City comprises three (3) age restricted versions; 12+, 18+, 21+. This structure allows everyone to join, socialize, learn, and play safely. Various experiences may be targeted at a specific age range. This means that players under the age of 21 will not be exposed to dares that are inappropriate for them. Our first priority at Dare City is player safety. Therefore, any attempts by users of Dare City to put themselves, other players, or property at risk will be solely liable for their actions. For more information about this, please review our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

Why does Dare City require my location?

Location access is requested by Dare City to enhance in game experiences. Dare City is a world of Beacons and Dares. Beacons act as landmarks, guiding you through your adventure. Once unlocked, Beacons showcase location specific dares in your local community. Dares are the heart of the Dare City experience challenging you to do things both within and outside of your comfort zone. Many dares are non-location specific however, there are also numerous location specific dares scattered around the world offering unique experiences that could only be had in that particular place.

Why does Dare City require access to my camera?

Your phone camera is like your window into Dare City. Dares are completed and shared through our integration with your phone camera. This integration allows you to take pictures, videos, or access your gallery of dares. To submit a dare, players must share a media submission offering “proof” that they completed the dare. This submission could be a photo or video, or it could be a screenshot of a note which recaps the player’s daring experience. Whatever the case may be, Dare City requires the following guidelines to be followed.

  1. Be creative. The intention behind Dare City is to use creativity as a mechanism for gaining bravery. Dares, much like people, are not one size fits all and people can have a variety of interpretations of their meaning. Dare City is designed to push the limits of your creativity, so taking some risks and thinking outside the box is required.
  2. Be respectful. Think of Dare City as no different than yours. There are rules and guidelines in place to keep people safe from both mental and physical harm. By playing Dare City, you are agreeing to uphold the standards in place to ensure everyone has a safe place to dare.
  3. Be daring. Def: brave; willing to do unusual things; taking risks. This is the foundational definition of dares we uphold at Dare City. We wholeheartedly believe that in order to truly discover who we are as people and our purpose here on earth, we must be willing to dare. Dare to discover what we fear and face those fears. Dare to better ourselves through self awareness and control of our emotions. Dare to better our community by upholding high standards and valuing the experience of others. Dare to be you.
